A Wretched Week

Oh, kitties!  Do you see what has become of my life?  What a misery this past week has been!  Let me tell you . . .

Despite my protests, that evil mom stuffed me into the PTU last Saturday morning, and I had a feeling I was in for trouble.  Kitties are good about knowing things like that.  Well, I yelled at the mom all the way (yes, I was right) to the VETS  {{shutter}}, and while waiting for him to make his distressing appearance.  When he showed up, it just took my breath away, and I couldn't scream any more, no matter how hard I tried!

What can I say?  The scabs were a little itchy.
No biggy!

Strangely, the mom and he were happy I was yelling!  They thought that meant my kitty Prozac was working, but it really meant I was MAD!  Instead of trying to make myself small and hiding, and only squeaking when I didn't like something, I showed off my lungs.  And I got a couple of good hisses in too!  You would have been so proud of me!

Anyway, to get back to my story, the torcherer said I had OCD!  What the ???   Just because I did my eyebrows?  I like the way my eyebrows look.  The mom plucks hers, why can't I?  It must be some form of discrimination, I just know it.

He did give me some lovely little pink pills to take in my favorite treat, salmon Pill Pockets, and I have been feeling really well.  I stopped plucking my eyebrows in front of the mom, but she noticed me scratching them with my back feet, so she stuck a doughnut around my neck!  Do you think she could be some sort of alien pod person?

It was a fierce battle!  Other kitties ran and became scarce when they heard my mighty hollering and hissing.  Then the sight of me scart them when they came back!  They probably thought I was some sort of alien pod cat.

I had to hide in a corner because I can't get under the bed any more!

My siblings were scart
and waited anxiously outside my room
for all my screeching and cussing to be over.
I had to get it out of my system.

Ridiculous! Look how I sleep now!  And I couldn't snuggle up with Oui Oui or the mom properly either.  I was really big-hearted and forgave her.

So, the mom was telling me she hoped I could break the habit and let my scabs heal.  Silly woman!

I hope all you kitties have a great weekend.  I'll be spending mine getting used to having a personal air pillow attached to my neck.  At least the mom picked out a collar that lets me eat and doesn't obstruct my vision.  Purrs!  And stay safe!

BTW, thank you for all your purrs for me.   The mom and the vet have checked out all sorts of things, trying to get me to stop taking my eyebrows off.  They've done the allergy thing, calming treats, drops and collars, pheromones, Spirit Essences, coconut oil, steroids, and a few other meds as well.  If this doesn't work, the mom doesn't know what she'll do!

You were really big-hearted to forgive her. I know she is only trying to help you, but that was a very stressful day for you.

Hopefully this all works and you won't have to go through this again any time soon

Uh-oh, it's the Donut of Shame! I guess humans don't want us kitties competing with their own fashion statements! Hope you heal up soon and your fur comes back so that donut can come off asap!

Oh MMM, we are so sorry that you have to wear that collar. That must be awful. We sure send tons of purrs to that you heal up really fast so you can get rid of that collar. We all have our paws crossed too.

And you forgave her for this?! OMC, you're a better Cat than we ever would be!

But we do hope that works...and the yummy "treats" you get too.

Purrs from us!

You are far more forgiving than we would be as that collar looks so uncomfortable and we can't see how you will sleep with it on. We hope you will be well compensated with extra treats.

my stars mica...dont think of it as a donut pillow, think of it as a regal Victorian collar...you know, only true royalty were permitted to wear collars of size and shape and frankly blue is your color; a few emeralds attached here and there and you'll be the fashion hit of the century...we hope the itching stops; it can be soooooo annoying, matter of fact have carl bathe your head in cool rose water every 20 minutes....
hugs girl from dai$y...we hope everyone has a great weekend !

Oh little Minnie Mica we are sorry you are in the stay puff pillow but we hope it makes the itchies stop. We know your Mom and da Vet are trying to do all they can to help you. And you know all of us are purrin for you. We hope your pretty pink pill helps you to feel better.

Oh, sweetie! You might think your air pillow looks ridiculous but we think it makes you even more fabulous! Why, we'll bet the others will be jealous in no time and want one too! Really! They might say differently but that just proves our point. Sending you relaxing purrs....

Poor MMM! The Mom is a very nice lady, and we know that she loves you and is just trying to help you get better. We are purring and praying that you heal quickly, and that you don't have to wear that donut for very long. Hugs to you all, and have a great weekend.

Dear Ms. M.M. Moo, We are so distressed that you are being imprisoned by the big blue pillow collar. At least it is not one of those dreadful cones. You are not the first kitty to have OCD, but you need to channel your interest into something other than eyebrow removal. Maybe hiding all the toys from the other kitties would occupy your time better. We're still purraying for you. Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette

well, um...gee, MMM, that does not sound like fun. not. at. all. buuuuuut, maybe you could think of it as a high-tech shoulder guard and you can ram into things - like table legs and other kittehs - you could tackle that Mom woman when she least expects it...the possibilities are endless. make teh most of it, my Bald Eyebrow Friend

Oh no you poor baby and poor Mom!!!!!! My heart goes out to both of you!
I sure wish I knew of something that would work. Your mom must be beside herself!
Tell your Mom that my mom will be home late Saturday afternoon and the rest of the weekend if she needs her. Mom just is busy tonight and tomorrow morning.

Sweet Mica, there is definitely no doubt that your mom and vet are doing everything they can to help you. I sure hope they stumble on the exact thing you need. Your mom has amazing patience. I know it must be hard on her to see you in distress. It's hard on me! I'm hoping this donut, as awful as it may be, will be the thing that helps you stop fussing with your eyebrows. Hugs to you!

Oh, MMM, we hope that the donut helps your eyebrows grow back in soon. It looks rather undignified, but hopefully that and the pills will get you on the mend soon.

Thank you so much for your kind words of condolence in our blog comments about the loss of our grandpeep. It's a time to readjust to a "new normal", and that includes a new buddy for Earl. We'll have an update about that soon.

We can only offer purrs. We've been through that ourselves! And we assure you things will be better soon. The itchies go away and the collar will too. And you will be happier after.

The mom here: I know that Prozac is used in kitties for depression and anxiety issues. It sounds like you are already on that one. Sometimes, the vet can use an anti-anxiety medication like valium, too, if the anxiety is severe. I don't know much about how that all works in cats (just humans because that was my area of study), but if this doesn't work, that might be an option.

Milita says you made her proud with your antics at the vet! She hisses and growls and even tries to BITE the vet (and she *never* bites anybody!). She becomes quite ferocious!

We all hope that you can get your donut off soon and that you can break the habit of taking off your eyebrows.

Purrs and hugs,
Carmine, Milita, and Jewel
