Some Scary Nights This Week!

Adieu, Tocktober!

Howl-O-Ween always gives us the heebie-jeebies, but the night Sandy came knocking was no picnic either.  We were grateful Sandy wasn't nearly as bad as the forecasters thought and left faster than predicted.

2:00 pm Monday we had light winds up to about 20 mph (32 kph) but by 4 pm the winds had really picked up and it was raining cats and dogs.  The din was terrific.  Of course the power went out, so as evening settled there wasn't much to do.  Powerful gusts hit the house so hard it felt like the house moved, shock waves shook the bed and woke us up several times.  2 am the mom woke again and it was calm, relatively speaking.  The worst of Sandy had passed.

We are excited to say The Girl, away at a college NW of Philly, our Aunt who lives in northern NJ and our Cape Cod relatives all have their power back on.  So we are doing our happy dance.  But we are purring and praying for those who have not been so lucky, and in particular, those who have lost loved ones.  We hope their lives regain some normalcy soon and their recovery is quick.

The mom's work never lost power cause the devil looks after its own, she says.

Sandy was a strange storm.  Its the first hurricane we can remember with cold rain and caused a blizzard that dropped more than 2 feet of snow - or any snow for that matter.  We had about 7 inches (about 18 cm) of rain.  Now it is just plain cold here, we are doing lots of snuggling.

Sandy gave us lots of reasons to laugh at the mom.  She made one of those buddy burners she posted the video about and spilled hot wax all over her built-in cutting board.  Lesson:  Make them over a paper plate!  She was so disappointed not to cook in a flower pot, but was happy to have power after losing it for 18 hours.  When Isabel came trotting through, we didn't have power for 5 days.  The outage from derecho this past summer was even longer.

We live such exciting lives!  Since we started blogging in August 2011, we have racked up 2 hurricanes and a derecho.  Pretty cool, huh?

We dare any hurricane to mess with our Julie.

Or her brother, Carlos.

I am glad to hear that you and your family all made it through Sandy with nothing worse than brief power outages! I think having Julie and Carlos around helped.

We're so thankful you're all okay! We watched the news and Sandy was really scary.
We have no hurricanes here though heavy rains and thunderstorms are pretty common during the monsoon season (NOW).

We are just glad all of you are all right even though Julie and Carl look more than annoyed. MOL. Hurricanes are no fun at all. Our Person has been through three of them. Not fun. But at least you made it through and glad all the family are all right too. Take care and have a great day.

Awww, hi you guys! We sorry about all that wax spilling. We know that can be a big mess to clean up...we just not gonna say exactly HOW we know that, on account that's classified information...and we don't want to bring it back to Mumsy's mind right now. She liked and agreed with that devil looking after his own at the work place. And, we are doing our happy dance with you that you guys and your family are all okay. So much tragedy from Hurricane Sandy. We are just so glad you all came through so good.

Take care and we'll see you later!
Hugs!

We are so thankful that all of you had smooth sailing through Sandy. It's odd, we had the first two storms of the year come through our area(in May) and they were here before the "official" start of hurricane season and we bet you got the "last" storm" of the season.
There is no easy without power though.

I am SO happy that all of you are alright and heck...Julie and Carl are the last kitties any respectful hurricane should bother. NO way! They scare me all the way here in TN. xoxoxoxo

OMC! What great photos but I think it is only fair to get a butt shot of the mom, see how she would like it. Purrrfect way to end the month of Toctober though.

Holy moly! If Sandy had seen Julie and Carlos, she woulda high-tailed it out of Dodge and left everybuddy alone! ;)

We're glad you guys are all okay.

So very glad you all weathered Sandy without anything more than scary winds and 7 (SEVEN?!?) inches of rain. Stay warm!
