The Peepers are Peeping!

We are excited to announce spring is officially here!  The Spring Peepers were heard singing at the creek Friday night!

Spring Peepers are the cutest and loudest frogs ever.  They are like crocuses of the amphibian world.  In fact, nothing is blooming here yet, but we have frogs!

You may not believe just how loud these little critters are.  We can hear them down at the creek with the windows closed.  And it sounds like there are millions of them.  All it takes is a little warm weather, and they won't shut up for months.

For our friends who live outside their habitat and anyone who likes cute loudmouths, there's a short video for you.  And HAPPY SPRING!

You can also watch this at
if you have problems with the video above

Over the weekend we had a couple traumas, so tomorrow we are featuring The Tale of Two Traumas!  Til then!

How cool! We are WAY far away from the habitat of those little guys - all the noise here comes from crickets and that's not til summer.

We're glad we don't have those little loud mouths near us at night. We need our beauty sleep.

How absolutely wonderful! We wish spring would hurry up and arrive here too. It's sunny today but there is a fierce north wind blowing and it's COLD!

Oh dear, hope the tramas aren't too bad. We have the singing frogs here too especially when our pond is full. Hope you have a great week.

Wow, they're loud yet so small! We've never had frogs near us.

I hope the traumas weren't too bad but I'll be sure to come back to read about them.

Think we'd have a fit at night if they were there yapping away, but would be a fun display.

We've never heard these Peepers before. And it's probably a good thing...they would keep us from our naps!

I LOVE it. I could listen and have for days and hours on end. You're right..it says Spring, then warm weather..hot, sticky humid weather that is..and I just love to hear them. I have ringing in my ears about the pitch of these guys (tho thankfully not as loud! and the ringing reminds me of the peepers enough I can relegate the sound to the background.

wow. you don't look so happy in that pikshure. in fact, you look a little tired already of all that spring peeping. but they are a delightful precursor to spring and all it's glories. and i bet they taste yummy as well.

They are sure louder than some birdies would be so excited to hear them and chirp back.

They are peeping here too. The funny thing is that the multitudes in the swamp across the street don't bother us anny. There are so many that there is just a constant sound.

But there is that ONE DARN PEEPER outside of the bedroom winder that chirps very minute or so. It keeps us all up all night. Its ALWAYS just one lost peeper.

We have to go hunt it down and kill it...
