Thank You Everyone!

I am awed by the outpouring of support and good wishes!  Thank you all who took the time to make my day a little better by leaving words of encouragement, support and love.  I'm not sure who designed the graphic for me, but thank you, its lovely.  Eventually I plan on visiting and thanking all of you personally.

Today the hospice workers brought the hospital bed so my mom would be more comfortable.  There will be a helper who will come in for 5 hours a day.  What a big help that will be!  My boss has been wonderful, telling me just to do what I need to do.  How lucky I am to be surrounded by so many supportive people!  And who knew I'd find so many online!

My mom is much the same as she was yesterday.  I thought I'd start praying with her.  She has always been very religious and I thought prayers would comfort her.  Meanwhile, my sister thought of bible readings.  I am excited and anxious to get started, I know Mom will enjoy this.  I can't remember ever being so excited at the prospect of praying for an extended period of time!  Do any of you have any suggestions that you think my mom might like?

Again, thank you everyone!  I am so blessed to know so many kind people.  Take care, and God bless you.

From the bottom of my heart,
Paula

Continued prayers for your Mom and family, Paula. I love Paul's letters to the Corinthians best, and the Nativity story.

This reminds my human so much of the time a few years back when a really good friend of hers was in the last stages of breast cancer and had hospice care. It was pretty much the she thing. Cindy was only 38 and it was a very sad time. So you and your mother are in her thoughts a lot right now.

Prayer and Bible reading together will likely comfort all of you and bring you closer. I'm sure your mother will enjoy such time with her family. You are all in my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you xoxo

When my mom was very sick, one of the things she loved the most was having the bible read to her. She couldn't read herself anymore and I know that it helped fill her days with joy. Cherish every moment.

You and your Mom might like it if you hummed or sang some favorite hymns to add to the bible reading and prayers. If you don't recall words, a lot of them can be found online.

You are in OUR prayers.

You're in our prayers too. The mom's not affiliated with any organized religion anymore, so can't offer advice on what prayers. Though the idea of hymns is good too.

Universal Peace and Blessings to your mom and to you all.

That is a really nice graphic, that is for sure. I am so glad you are writing all the updates and getting all this support. Also glad Mahoney put a smile on your face for a minute anyway. I think singing or just saying hymns sounds like a wonderful thing to do. I sure am thinking a lot about you and so is Mahoney. She told me that this morning. Take good care of yourself too Paula.

Corinthians are one of my favorites for comfort. My mom liked the 23rd Psalm when she was ill. The Nativity story I have memorized just from growing up with it,and loving it. Also, try some hymns. You don't have to sing them, they are like poetry. My favorite when I was little, and the most comforting to me was and is What a Friend We Have in Jesus. My dad, by the way, was a minister. His favorite hymn was Silent Night. I think that's one of the reasons why I love the whole Nativity story. It reminds me of him, as well as being very beautiful and inspiring to the faithful.

maybe the bible on audio? that way if she wants to 'read' but doesn't want to bother either one of you she has that option...

We just learned of your blog and your mom, and are praying for a peaceful and loving passing. I too like the 23rd psalm like brandi and Carol mentioned. Or any psalm in general since they are flowing and lovely to read aloud.

The Easter story is powerful too, or perhaps the Creation story in Genesis. I honestly think that whatever you choose, even if not the Bible, will be welcome and appreciated. It's quality time spent together.

Hi Zoolatry sent us! We are praying for you and your family and mom. As for ideas my mommy has some! She is a Bible-lover too!

She says there are many grrreat devotionals and Bible studies that your mommy might enjoy doing with you. Women of Faith has some great series. Then again The Purpose Driven Life has a great little devotional book! But just reading the Bible can't be beat!

What is your mommy's favorite book or character from the Bible? Maybe you can find a study on it!

Ruthie

I am sure that reading passages from the Bible will be a great comfort to your Mom. It will soothe her on so many levels. That is such a wonderful idea. We love Psalms and Corinthians.
