Our mom certainly has no green thumb! Between her and her cats, she has killed every house plant she's ever owned. A trip through our front door is an automatic death sentence, and frequently its a painful and lingering one. The mom's embarrassed to say she has a BS in Botany!
This year has been particularly rough on the flowers outside since part of the garden was dug up when the water line to the house had to be replaced, and some of the garden is new. The extended drought and extreme heat all summer hasn't helped either.
So, here we go!
Springtime tulips, daffodils and bleeding heart.
Tulips with azaleas that have never bloomed.
Spiderwort The Girl gave the mom for Mother's Day one year.
Abby's mom at Manx Mnews need not fear our mom's skills!
Above, one of the 4 different kinds of lilies the mom planted this year. She must have forgotten to photograph the other kinds. What a loss!
Some purple cone flowers, or Rudbeckia. The mom loves these. They attract butterflies and gold finches. Its impossible to kill them and they're weed free!
That's it! Pretty sad considering these are the photos for an entire growing season! Well, we hope you enjoyed them anyway. Better luck next year!
BTW, the mom did find a new way of killing plants this week. She was mulching the garden and noticed some coral bells had caterpillars on them which were eating all the leaves, so she sprayed the plants with Off! and now, 4 days later, all the plants are dead. Who knew!

We think those flowers look pretty, gang! Especially the tulips. You're right ... who would have guessed that OFF kills plants???
Hugs!
Beauitful flowers! :-)
You guys have a talent when it comes to gardening!
xoxo
Sherlock
p.s. i had no idea OFF kills plants either
Welcome to the gardening show/tours! We like yer flowers!
Those are pretty flowers! The mom loves cone flowers!
Off? Dang, I have the brownest thumb ever and I don't know that I'd try that.. I worked my hand into a blister once using a little spray bottle(the kind you put water in for spraying your hair or ironing) to spray a mix of dish soap and water on like 16 rose bushes. It was supposed to keep bugs and stuff off of them. It did kinda work... until it rained.
Your garden looks better than mine! All I have are a few rose bushes, most of which the hybrid died and all that grows is the scrub rose from under it..
They're gorgeous!!!
Lots of green thumbs and paws at your house!

I guess "OFF" meant "go OFF and die" eh?
Well, listen: we have NO yard (= no outside plants) and ONE (count it, ONE) indoor plant which was doing really well but it grew so much it outgrew its container and the Human has done nothing about getting a new pot for it so the Giant Tree is dying and I still don't theink she'll do anything so pretty soon we will have NO plants.
Yours look pretty darn good to us.
These are lovely. I call myself an accidental gardener and like a wild look in our garden.
The flowers that you do have are just lovely! Who knew that OFF would kill a plant? Makes you think twice about putting it on your arms and legs, doesn't it?
Beautiful flowers! All of ours died months ago because of the heat!
OMC, your human rivals mine in Advanced Plant Killing! But at least yours grew flowers with some kind of success. Mine did not even bother.
I'm sorry to hear that. LOL. What did you spray it again? And not to worry, mom, I can relate. I tried growing "Million Flowers" and they all died eventually- probably in a span of 2 months.

MOL, Poor Mom, seems like she should try a different hobby. Maybe fake flowers. Just kidding. We all think that your flowers are gorgeous, no kidding. They are a whole lot better than what we have which is 100% weeds. Mahoney says they really are pretty. Take care.
All our plants die quickly - after Mum has watered the plants on planting she never remembers to do it again! Thank goodness we can meow loudly when we are hungry and thirsty!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
I think they look terrific. Mommy did a terrible job this year because it was so so so HOT!
Thosenare very pretty! All I see to grow here is weeds!
Beautiful!!!!
Those tulips are so pretty! Plants used to suffer a miserable death when they had Mommy tend to them so Mommy was pleasantly surprised when the petunia are still alive, more than 3 months later. MOL.
for being "all paws" in the garden I would say your Mom did an AMAZING job!
We all ooh and ahh'ed over all your beautiful flowers!!! Mom said she had not heard about the OFF trick.

I like flowers. Flowers are pretty. :)
I thinks your Mom did very well with those flowers as they were very pretty it was inhabitable for most flowers so these did well and added a bit of color to the garden
There may not be many flowers, but they are all very beautiful.
My human has no patience for growing flowers...
