INTERNATIONAL BOX DAY

We love our Mr. Chewy box!  We adopted it back in January and we still have it.  The mom can't throw it out cause someone is always in it!  She'd hafta throw one of us out too!  It even has the original paper in it cause we love it so, and Oui Oui in particular loves to dig in it.

Here is our photo tribute to our beloved box! Long may we have it and irritate the mom.  Its even one more thing she has to clean.  She removed all the shed furs in there and fluffed up our paper for us this weekend.

A picture of Oui Oui digging to China.
See the tail action?
If having the box around isn't enough,
her digging drives the mom bonkers!

MANCAT MONDAY

Not happy with the mom.

Carl here.  You would not believe what happened to me last Monday!  I was lazing in bed as usual, thinking mancat thoughts, when the mom unceremoniously dumped me in the PTU and took me to a place I'd never seen.  They proceeded to do the most unnerving things!  They bathed me.  Twice! Combed my manly locks and checked the manly tocks.  When they were finished, the mom was there waiting for me.  I looked like a new cat!

Just because we are somewhere new doesn't mean I will look into the flashy box.

Yes, I was wearing a swanky little tie!  When the lady told the mom I liked it, she couldn't believe it.  After all, I was one of the cats who lost all his bones when she dressed me up for Howl-O-Ween.  When we got home she left it on, and yes, she could see I did like it.  Who doesn't like to look jaunty and dashing once in a while?

Naturally I headed right back to bed.
Even though it was an exhausting day, I still made some biscuits.

And slept the sleep of innocence, as it were.

Augh!  That stupid flashy box!
Go away!
If you want to do something constructive, go buy me some more ties.

Flashback Friday

Looking for something else, the mom found some of Oui Oui's baby pictures!  See how cute she was!  The mom thought all her baby pictures were locked on old phones, which she doesn't know how to access, so she was excited to find these.

The Girl lets Oui Oui climb over her.
Do you see what a messy eater she was?
There's food everywhere!

A little rest.

 Something is interesting.

Very interesting!

 Aren't I a cute one!

How small and SKINNY!
My belly furs haven't grown back yet from my snipping.
I was snipped when I was 8 weeks old.
The shelter I came from won't adopt out an animal that hasn't been fixed,
no matter how young.
They have a vet who is very skilled at small, young animals.

The quality isn't the best cause the mom took pictures of the pictures.  Still, we are thrilled to be able to share these with you.

We hope you have a great weekend!  We have a surprise to show you next week, and finally we will have time to do bean avatars.  As if we haven't had enough of those already...

ANOTHER Award!

We can't believe it!  We have had another award bestowed upon us.  That's three in less than a week!  Our good friends AND ALMOST NEIGHBORS (well, it sounded good, they live in the same state as we do) at Mark's Mews awarded us the Illuminating Blogger Award.  Concats to Mark's kitties on yet another well deserved award.  Thanks so much for thinking of us, friends and neighbors!  We are truly humbled by all the accolades from our friends!  Julie will take it from here.

MMM won this award earlier in the week, and now I have.  According to the rules, I have to tell an Illuminating story about myself.  So I confess I am NOT AFRAID of the Vishus Evil Torcheror (VET).  I may have this look on my face.

Actual VET picture

I am just annoyed.  Very!  The VET even said when listening to my innards that I was as cool as a cucumber.  That is, not scairt.  I am Queen Julie the Lion Heart!

When the mom foolishly brings home a new kitty, I don't jump over barriers during the "introduction period" to let the new introoder know who is queen.  I ram them and break them down.  When Oui Oui was a kitten, the "introduction barrier" consisted of 3 baby gates, 2 large pieces of cardboard, the large clothes hamper, the vacuum cleaner and a large piece of luggage.  Anything less is no barrier to me.  Only a very brave kitty would behave like this AND not be afraid of the VET!

Queen Julie the Lion Heart

Now for the hard part, picking 5 successors to the awards!  I have chosen these kitties and eagerly await their illuminating story:

1 - Edmund Percival Hillary of Meowers from Missouri
3 - Billy Sweetfeets at Meezer Tails
4 - BiBi Chan at The Poupounette
5 - Kizzie of Kizzie Cat

Concats to all!  And many thanks and purrs to everyone at Mark's Mews!

What's In A Name?

Sugar and spice and everything nice!  Today we are sponsoring an event at the Tabby Cat Club cause we love Naming and Gotcha stories so.  We thought we all would tell our stories here, instead of just Oui Oui's.

Oui Oui

My real name is Sweet Pea.  Sometimes the beans call me that, but mostly its Oui Oui.  The Girl insisted on the name Sweet Pea for obvious reasons.  I never fight and I love everyone.  When the mom brought me home from the shelter and let me out of the PTU I was so happy to have my freedom I ran all over the room.  I ran around and around for 20 minutes, occasionally stopping to bat or sniff a toy.  The peeps were laughing so hard, but I didn't care!  The mom wanted to name me Jubilee but the girl was stubborn.  It could be Sweet Pea, or it could be Sweet Pea.

I am so happy to play, and I am always ready anytime anyone wants to have some fun, so the mom started calling me "Oui Oui", cause I never say no.  In fact, when The Girl left to go to collich, the mom was worried I would be lonely, so she got me my very own pet kitty to play with and that's why we gotcha'd Mica Minnie Moo.  I have other nicknames too.  Twinkletoes because of the flash of my feet when I run.  Sugar Bee cause I am sweet and always busy.  Whippy Tail after my famous whippy tail dance, and a few others the mom is too old to remember.

Carl

My full name is Carlos Raphael Camaro.  The Girl named me after a boy she knew and the Baltimore Orioles Slugger, Rafael Palmeiro.  Being 5 years old, she didn't quite get the name right but that's ok cause the mom didn't spell it right either!   Baseball player or sports car, I think they are both manly!

Mica Minnie Moo

My name was almost Maiko (Japanese for an apprentice Geisha) but the mom and Girl liked the name the shelter gave me better, so they left it at Mica (which means "beloved").  There is a family tradition, any tortie or calico must have "Minnie" in their name, in honor of the mom's grannie.  Moo was my nickname and since Mica Minnie didn't sound right, it was added to my full name.  Miss Hiss, Waddles and Chunky Monkey are more of my nicknames.  I am not sure why.

Julie

She was sweet.  She was adorable.  And she needed a name quickly.  So she was named Jewell.  (The girl at the vets spelled it with 2 "L"s.)  Her nicknames are Julia, Juliette, Julianne and La B*tch.

We'd love to read your stories in a comment or a post!  We hope you had fun reading our stories.

The Liebster Award

A new doggie friend of ours, Haopee, was thoughtful and kind enough to think of us when awarding the Liebster Award.  Leibster means "Love" in German , and we are honored they feel this way about us.  We have been awarded it before, and we are just as honored the second time around.

This is an easy award to do!  Here are the rules:

1 - Display the award
2 - Link back to the blog who awarded it to you
3 - Pass it along to 5 other bloggers with less than 200 followers

We would like to pass it along to some bloggers we have meet since the first time.

1 - Mewsings of Cottage Garden Cats - they are great friends and they make us laugh!
2 - Sometimes, Cats Herd You - they helped out with some of the more difficult avatars, just cause they could.  They are just wonderful.  Stop by and visit.  They have some really cute kitties!  Plus see what they did with the avatars.  Our mom could only wish!
3 - Responsible Pet Ownership - Ok, we know they have more than 200 followers, but we make an exception because this is an important topic.

Mica Minnie Moo Monday!

We are very honored to have won 2 awards this weekend!  Unfortunately, this post is really long, so we will do the first one today, and the second one tomorrow.

The first was awarded from Penelope at Mewsings of Garden Cats to Mica Minnie Moo.  Its the Illuminating Blogger Award.  Mica Moo was so excited to get her very first award all to herself.  She's the first kitty here to get her very own award.  Sweet Penelope told an illuminating story of how she was deaf when born, but when she was several months old started to develop her hearing.  They have the most beautiful gardens at their blog, and very pretty cats.  Their mom has a real eye for beauty, and MMM thanks Penelope for thinking of her!  They are dear old friends and we love them.

So MMM has to tell an illuminating story about herself.  This happened last Friday morning and shows a positive way a kitty can influence the beans around them.  The mom's alarm went off, and she decided to get up in a minute.  Well, she fell back asleep and started dreaming.

She dreamed she was at a big, old house, and there were many people sitting around outside at picnic tables.  She decided to go inside and was looking at branches with berries on them when she noticed a horrible smell which smelled like burning pumpkin.  As she climbed the stairs to the veranda, there was a huge, half rotted pumpkin burning.

She went inside and two ladies were making pumpkin lasagna for a contest to see who could eat the most the fastest without breaking the long pumpkin strands.  These two ladies were the two top competitors and they were showing the mom how to serve it without breaking the pumpkin fibers.

Then one of the ladies started singing a ballad in a baritone voice, complete with arm flourishes.  The words were, "Come with me, Maria, and I'll make you salami tea."  Then the mom woke up, looked at the clock and realized she should have gotten up 45 minutes ago.

She went into the bathroom, and MMM had graciously used the litter box without covering it up.  That's where the smell came from, and the mom would have been late to work if she had gotten up any later.  So, besides inspiring a funny dream, she did the mom a real favor.  MMM uses this method of waking the mom on the weekends too when she wants to be fed.

So, now we have to pass this award onto 5 kitties.  This is always the really hard part, because we would pass it on to so many kitties if we could.

Mica Minnie Moo picked:

Tutu at The Furries of Whisppy
Cody at Cat Chat with Caren & Cody
Spitty at Spitty Speaks
Moosey at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life
Leo at Celestial Kitties

We can't wait to hear their stories!
