The Peepers are Peeping!

We are excited to announce spring is officially here!  The Spring Peepers were heard singing at the creek Friday night!

Spring Peepers are the cutest and loudest frogs ever.  They are like crocuses of the amphibian world.  In fact, nothing is blooming here yet, but we have frogs!

You may not believe just how loud these little critters are.  We can hear them down at the creek with the windows closed.  And it sounds like there are millions of them.  All it takes is a little warm weather, and they won't shut up for months.

For our friends who live outside their habitat and anyone who likes cute loudmouths, there's a short video for you.  And HAPPY SPRING!

You can also watch this at
if you have problems with the video above

Over the weekend we had a couple traumas, so tomorrow we are featuring The Tale of Two Traumas!  Til then!

FRIDAY FUN

We were going to do a "Formerly Feral Friday" but it got late so quickly, we are posting fun photos for a smile, we hope, to end the week.  Enjoy!

BTW, did anyone catch the title of yesterday's post was a nod to the song by The Smiths?

How Soon is Now

Its time!
ITS TIME!
ITS TIME!

Yup, that's her belly under there.
I'm poking her as hard as I can.

I dunno.  I'm not sure its working.  I'll squeak at her and purr in her ear.

I'll sing another aria while Oui Oui runs through the crinkle tunnel again.
I think she's awake now.
The things we do for breakfast!

Surprise!

The beans on TV talked about it, we didn't believe it, but look at what we woke up to yesterday!

The view from our favorite Kitty TV.

There was a good 3 inches (about 8 cm) on the grassy
and elevated areas.

Less on paved surfaces.

The mom's spring bulbs . . .

. . . might bloom sometime.

On the way out of the neighborhood.
This was taken around 8 AM and it snowed until early afternoon.
HEY!  We thought it was Spring!
And now we get our biggest snowfall of the season!
It was pretty but, of course, it all melted away today.
Ok, we are ready for warm sunny days, balmy nights,
the call of the Spring Peepers
and some good old fashion window whiffin'.

Friday Fun

While doing some research, with the help of my IT kitty, Mica Minnie Moo, I found some things that put a chuckle in my purr.  So I thought I would share.

I know you kitties and your parents understand!  So many of these are demonstrated day to day on our blogs.

If cats could talk, they wouldn't.  Nan Porter

There is, incidentally, no way of talking about cats that enables one to come off as a sane person.  Dan Greenberg

Cats are smarter than dogs.  You can't get eight cats to pull a sled through the snow.  Jeff Valdez

Cat people are different, to the extent that they generally are not conformists.  How could they be, with a cat running their lives?  Louis Camuti

When my cats aren't happy, I'm not happy.  Not because I care about their mood but because I know they're just sitting there thinking up ways to get even.  Percy Bysshe Shelley

The man who carries a cat by the tail learns something that can be learned in no other way.  Mark Twain

Cats can work out mathematically the exact place to sit that will cause most inconvenience.  Pam Brown

It is impossible to keep a straight face in the presence of one or more kittens.  Cynthia E. Varnado

If only cats grew into kittens.  R. Stern

Kittens are born with their eyes shut.  They open them in a about six days, take a look around, then close them again for the better part of their lives.  Stephen Baker

No amount of time can erase the memory of a good cat, and no amount of masking tape can ever totally remove his fur from your couch.  Leo Dworken

The way to keep a cat is to try to chase it away.  E.W. Howe

For the Trout Talkin Tabbies:  The reason cats climb is so that they can look down on almost every other animal - its also the reason they hate birds.  K.C. Buffington

And finally:  If there were to be a universal sound depicting peace, I would surely vote for the purr.  Barbara L. Diamond

So, peace and purrs this weekend, sweet furriends.  I hope that wasn't TOO long, and you enjoyed it.  Have a fantastic weekend!

Thankful Thursday

I'm so thankful my beautiful soft furs are starting to grow in.  NEVER again am I entering a mosh pit!  The mats were so bad in some places I had to be cut down to the skin.

This is Oui Oui's hang out, with all her beloved scratchers and her food bowl.
I'm not sure I am really looking forward to having my lovely furs evened up.
But I will be glad when the mom stops calling me a "scrawny little thing".  How nervy!

The mom has been pondering how to get my furs cut.  A Lion cut?  Cod forbid a Squirrel cut!  Or a Poodle cut!  PLEASE shoot me now!
What do you think she should do?
I'm worried no matter what she does
I'm going to look more like an alien mutant than MMM.

There is going to be drama here when she goes to the vets for mutantitis!
Coming to you soon!

What a Weekend!

It is always crazy when The Girl visits and this one wasn't any different.  Between times The Girl and the mom ran in and out the house, we got some snuggling and playing in, so everyone had a nice time.  And the mom is whining she is poor again.

All too soon it was time to go.   But, hey!  We still treat the kitty with respect.  Stop jiggling my jelly belly!  Wow, look at it move.

And this is NO WAY to hold a cat!
I know you know better.

We are not amused!
 I'll forgive you this time . . .

 . . . sort of.

The Girl is really proud of the muscles she has developed massaging horses.
So she put on a muscle shirt (of course) . . .

. . .and showed them off while she and the mom had a good laugh.
{{Sigh}}  Now she's gone
and its so quiet here.
Maybe we should cause some trouble and liven things up a bit!

Friday Fun?

Hi Kitties!

The Girl just came home for a couple days, so we are disappearing during that time.  We will return shortly, and we are sorry we haven't returned comments, but we'll do that just as soon as we can.  We have such exciting things planned, writing grant essays and filling out applications, figuring out what happened to make 400 songs mysterppear from the mom's iPod, and the like.  Woo hoo!  Life is good!

There better be plenty of kitty play time too!  So, purrs to all and have a great weekend!

Messing With the Mom

Ah, bliss!  I'm chillaxing on my favorite scratchers in a mess of my own making, next to my food dish.
 Drat that woman!
I'll show her how happy I am.

I'm purring and rubbing up a storm, just for her!
The language!
It doesn't bother me
you had to delete 4 pictures in a row
cause they were so bad.
I'll just wait patiently while you delete
then start rubbing for you again when you are ready.

WHAT!  Did you just tell me to stop rolling around like a SLUG?
  Hee, hee, hee!

Have I had enough of this little game yet?
Yup, time to enjoy the sun.
