Friday Fun

We noticed many kitties had flat cats of themselves and we wanted to have some too.  As you might have guessed, our big problem is the mom's "photography".  The photos she takes with her phone just can't be blown up that large.  So we convinced the mom to draw flat cats of us.  Hmmm . . . maybe we would have been better off with the photos!

Poor Carl has lopsided eyes . . .

(Biggify to see.)
. . . while Julie got a lopsided head.

Mica Minnie Moo has a giant head, way too large . . .
. . . and Oui Oui has a pea head, way too small.
Did you biggify to see her smile, overbite and chinless chin?

And since when is Carl the smallest cat?
And our sizes are all jumbled up!

Oh, well, the mom tried.  She used pastels and it was a drizzly day, so she had to run out when it dried up a little to spray fixative on them, and it took 4 coats.  The fixative changed the colors and muted the contrast by darkening everything up, especially Carl's eyes, which had problems to start with.  It even made some of MMM's furs yellow.

Then there was the spray adhesive, mounting, cutting and affixing the easel backs.  Shall we say each was an adventure in itself?  Too bad we didn't have a video of that day!

We did go to BlogPaws with the mom, even though she wondered how she was going to use us.  She found we were best at poking her in the arm with our ears.  Cause of that, we only showed up the first day.  Bummer!  And we met hardly anyone!

So, what is our advice?  Stick to the professionals!  Making flat cats is not for the faint of heart!

Don't forget to enter our giveaway!  And don't worry about where you are located.  The mom has a couple girls she supports in school and is always sending international packages out to them.  The postal clerks at the post offices closest to her home and to her work all know her.

Have a good weekend!  Happy Memorial Day to our US furriends.  We can't believe the summer is here!  Stay safe all, and good luck in the giveaway.  Purrs!

As I suspected, making flat cats is a lot harder than it sounds from reading the instructions on a blog. I think yours turned out pretty well.

Mom Paula made flat cats of us when she traveled to Florida to meet some of the cat bloggers. It was hard work!

We think your mom is very talented

The mom thought your Flats were great! Your mom is way more artistic than our is.

Your human's artistic flat cats came out WAY better than if my human had tried to draw us! She does not do the flat thing anyhow - she thought it sounded like too much work, and after your report here, she is positive it is!

Oh, I think the drawings are wonderful! At least she didn't try to squeeze you into a copy machine!

We think you did a terrific job with the flat kitties. Our Mom couldn't possibly do any of that. We like the look of all of you. Take care and have a great week end.

We think your Mom did a pretty good job, actually! Our #1 has never gotten into that "flat" groove...

We're excited about being entered in the draw. Thanks!

We think they came out well! If our head peep tried to draw us, we would be various colored stick figures.

We've been wondering how people make their flats, actually. Do you know if anyone has written a how-to? Not having seen one up close, we aren't sure if they are usually mounted on something, laminated, or what.

We think your mom did a great job with the flats! Wow! Heck, our human can't even draw decent stick people.

My mommy would love to have a flat Katie to take with her when she visits. But it is too hard for her so she never will have one. :-(

I meant to tell you *I* think your flat kitties are fabulous. It is funny thinking of Carl being the smallest tho. xoxoxo

Our Flat selves stayed in our hotel room and Teri is surprised we didn't chew the ears off them, hahameow! We loved your descriptions of your flat selves and we never noticed the small heads or lopsided eyes at all!

Tell your mom we liked the photos too, and Teri wants to use one on our blog post she is supposed to be doing right now!

Our Flatnesses and Coco will be in Las Vegas next year and we so look forward to meeting your mom again (and we bet Teri will still keep asking who she is...she is sooo bad with names!)

I think your mom did a beautiful job on your flat selves (but had a laugh at the description of Oui Oui). The "real" pictures of Oui Oui sure are cute.

Whew we figured our Mom would never be able to make us into flat cats! Now we know for sure. MOL

I think that was an absolutely BRILLIANT idea and I think they came out beautifully!

That is impressive Mom would be unable to make a flat me it would look unrecognizable. And you got to represent yourselves at blogpaws even for one day.
