Seven years ago, the grandbeans lost their beloved dog. When they were ready, The Girl and the mom took them to the county shelter to help them pick out a new one. By the end of the visit, the grandbeans had found their new Princess and The Girl and mom found a new kitten.
One of the first pictures of Oui Oui with The Girl.
Four years later, with The Girl heading out to college, the mom worried who would be Oui Oui's playmate while she was working. So she decided to get Oui Oui her very own pet kitty. After telling The Girl when she left home she was going to be replaced by a meezer, Mica Minnie Moo seemed like the perfect choice!
Oui Oui, you have brought so much happiness and joy into our lives! Even when you tore all the stuffing out of the beds, climbed and brought down the curtains, you kept us in stitches. The mom can't decide which of your games is her favorite. Was it playing "Meertah"*, running wild through the house chasing The Girl and being chased in turn, jumping from the bed into a bag held open several feet away or playing fetch? What an imagination you have!
Your bravery and friendliness won over the feline phobic Julie. Even though you only eat two kinds of stinky goodness now and drive the mom crazy wondering what you will and won't eat next, we wouldn't change a thing about you.
The first photo of MMM
Mica Minnie Moo, you have been a work in progress and we hope one day you will be able to put your demons to rest. What your life on the streets must have been like, we can't imagine. Thankfully you had just enough trust to allow us to work with you. It breaks the mom's heart to see flashes of what you could have been had your life been easier.
MMM blogging with the mom, all snuggled up safe and sound.
Its been a slow journey from a kitty who didn't even know what being scratched was to the kitty who adores being petted to sleep in the mom's arms. If only you could relax and enjoy your life now you are safe. Maybe one day . . .
So, here's to our girls without whom our lives wouldn't be the same! We love you both and are thankful we share our lives with you.
* "Meertah" was a very earlier nickname of Oui Oui's. (Of course, Oui Oui is a nickname too, her real name being Sweet Pea.) Its a conjunction of "Meerkat" since meerkats and Oui Oui both have overbites and "Cheetah" because Oui Oui had long legs as a kitten. The game consisted of The Girl hiding from Oui Oui. When Oui Oui found her, she would jump out and yell "Meertah!" then the running and chasing commenced.
